LEAP Success Stories

Alison Grant

Alison Grant, formerly an Artistic Director of a small semi-professional 130 seat theatre in Oregon USA for 10 years took over the iconic building Fitzroy House in Lewes.

Fitzroy House was built in 1862 by Hannah Fitzroy (nee Rothschild) as a memorial library in honour of her deceased husband the Right Honorable Sir Henry Fitzroy, a long time MP for Lewes. Built by Queen Victoria’s favourite architect Sir George Gilbert Scott (who also created the Albert Memorial in London) this building has been described as one of the best small Gothic buildings in the country. For forty years the building has been a private home.

Alison will be re-opening Fitzroy House to the public as a performance and art venue and came second in LEAP 2017.
